Perttu Rastas

rastasPerttu Rastas is the Senior Curator of media art at the Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art in Helsinki. In addition to his curatorial labour, Rastas works as an art critic, producer, and editor; his co-edited book Get Real: Real-time + Art + Theory + Practice + History was published in 2005 and focuses on the intersection of technological development and artistic practice. In his writing, Rastas has attended to the ways in which artists – particularly those working within a Relational Aesthetic – perform as pioneers and futurists, contributing to a broader critical understanding of the social and cultural relations within information societies. Rastas has held his current position at the Museum since 1996; previous to this he was Director of Operations for the Finnish Media Art Archives from 1989 to 1994. Most recently, Rastas was the international curator at the Sixth Annual Fabulous Festival of Fringe Film in Winnipeg, in August 2007.
